Birdie and a little work

First ones from yesterday 

Couple bombs and the planes in the back I feel like building and don't wanna bother with the 1/300 planes as there way too fiddly for me right now 

Directions luckily the p47 and zero I can paint the pilot later don't know if I'll feel like it or not tho lol

Also got the tail art on the f14 so gonna have to finish its paints at some point 

A big rubber band ball then the tubes ones from the dollar store outher a target there also at hobby lobby (allways has a 40% off item coupon) as well as Michaels and joanns (both take competitior a coupons including hobby lobby's)

And the birdie drying I think I'm gonna have to do another top coat use that as the color

Hopefully I'll feel like painting semi-soon I need to lol I have atleast 4 planes to paint/finish painting

Couple starts last night

I printed up a few models to play with and stupidly thought no instructions because that's me lol why bother with instructions? 

Tried the Japanese made German phantom kinda got stuck because I don't know what's where so well I "think" it's simple enough if I worked I could get --also with this one I decided to put packing tape on the back to stiffen it up some and it helped a little but I couldn't glue it remotely easily 

2nd was the f18 and I pulled one of my models out but again I think I'm gonna need the instructions 

And an attempt at a c130 and yes that nose is truly terribles aside from that there is the basic shape there --aside I could have likely gotten the fuselage started and wings/tail done along with some of the engines before I had to reference instructions (yes I love herkies friend did great things) so perhaps I know them a little better? 

Overall: tape can be used to thicken but should prolly be where you aren't glueing or folding so that depends on the model aside from that for the time I'm gonna keep printing on the lazer to save ink till I feel I'm at a place where I will do well with thicker from the inkjet but atleast arm the thicker papers I have if I recall are more/less along the lines of my normal paper 

Update to my little world

Ok so I finally got some brass/brads I also found out the plane I was gonna put them on was WAY too small for them so I'll have to enlarge and reprint that one luckily I know how to do that lol 

I also have to finish with the ones I printed on thicker paper but atm I'm finding the reg paper is possibly the best option for me as I'm just starting out and it's the same to me as the thicker papers (plus my laser printer hates the thicker papers) 

In outher news my phone got wonky on me (wifi) I did all I could Apple ended up replacing I noticed that had some inner screen cracks so they replaced the screen on that one for me and I still love apple --I'm considering getting the AppleCare because of that but I know they make great products! 

Post-trip

I'm back home from kosh and I am pretty well tanned! Even a little burnt possibly from not having had enough water I also feel like I'm getting a bit of a bad cold ATM tho I'm not too overly concerned about it 

I have some pics up on the group (that's working better ATM) but once I get thru the pics between all 3 cameras I'll post some here for the moment you can look up nm on Facebook 

That was what it looked like a minute ago those exact pictures are from the honour flight when it came back I was like right up front and it was super-cool but that's got a bunch of iPhone pictures 

Red done mozzy started

Decided to get finished with the gnat the decals hated me tho so they look kinda terrible and I got a good start on the mosquito as well 

As you can see there uneven and some missing 

Look closely and you'll see cockpit instruments tho 

I decided gear down cause I'm lazy and that's how I do all of them lol so about what's left is gear and decals at this point canopy on both they should both be fun to finish too 

Forgot the cat

Yall remember that picture of the tomcat (f14 I think)? The sheet of paper that proubly looked like a complex build? I just realised (ok last night) that I never got pictures of it completed just the pattern on paper 

Here it is on top of a model of it the papers wings are taped but can be adjusted the plastics do swing well 

But of a close-up don't look so good at all that I can tell but was still a fun build 

And the belly now I've heard the markings on the paper are inaccurate like wrong matching or that (can't really see) and the intakes are way too rounded on the paper that was partly me being lazy (the tyres on the plastic aren't glued yet which is part of why ones missing) 

Hopefully that's a good compairison point of plastic to paper? I say overall at that scale the paper was the easyier build only because it was pre-coloured I also got to work out what was where and such like it was a puzzle of sorts which are allways fun!

Couple paper builds and tests

Old pic but I got some 80 65 and 100# ranges of paper my brother lazer printer seems to hate them all! I love the printer tho so I don't get the issue per se but I got my cannon printer to work so I'm perhaps not as overly concerned as I could be 

I printed up 3 copies of 3 different planes my intent build each side-by-side see what I prefer for paper and stick to that the one on the left is metallic paper (look closely on first pic you'll see it) it's a "wild weasel" f16 if I recall correctly and the right was a tan sheet (somehow looks like white was printed onto the cockpit to me) it's "f22 Lightning II" markings imply f22 test plane ("yf22") but "f22" is a raptor and "f35" is the "Lightning II" so they got something very wrong in that making me very glad I found it on Pinterest and it was free because if I paid and it was wrong I'd be contacting them 

And I decided to get working on my vamp just cause I could I really could stand to have a more tidy area if I could see what was where I may want to work on them more finishing and all 

On the vamp I have some stuff painted (black) I have yet to decide but I'll likely do gear down cause I can the whole rear section is glued together and to 1 of the pieces of wing the cockpit is started (paints) and assembled somewhat some paints on the pilots I'll have to get the colour out and paint the body soon enough too gonna be fun there lol I'd say a decent start considering lol 

An example of "paper modelling"

This was just intended as a couple quick examples these were found with Google some Pinterest some not 

So first let's see a sheet example 

Yes I am aware not best they were laying around a little bit you can kinda see some main features like the wingtip tanks tail wings fuselage and gear (most that I've seen do have landing gear) 

I just "happen" to have a plastic model of this (f9f) and no I didn't make the wingtip tanks on the paper hopefully you can see how similar they are or aren't from there the plastic isn't fully made as it stands 

And here's what an f15 looks like it's all but gear and missiles overall I think that was an impressive one it was a "fiddlers green" one I found 

Here's an f14 example I found but have yet to build I've heard there intended for "cardstock" which I got some 80# to test (5 sheets) overall I think these tend to come out pretty nice I tend to use more tape (dollar store) then glue (stick or the crayola learner stuff or I have a stick from blick both of which were tricky to get  usted to using and how they work only use a tiny bit like what would come out of a glue stick

Little more typhoon has gears and that's the lines on the spit from that washi tape still get to touch bits up but that's expected and no she is on her gear "normal" right now 

We'll have fun yall! Hopefully I can get to work on some more next when I'm off again gonna be fun I think 

Typhoon/spit work red touchups

Bad name thought I should play with my models a little while I was up and needing relax time still gotta finish up the f14 or whatever the giant swing wing one I have is but ATM feel like doing smaller ones 

Let's do the red first I touched up its red paints and painted the pilots red as I have it from a source I trust that they wear red in the Reds next step is likely decals and top but I gotta get a black instrument area and finish with making reds red as well as touch up the black that I made red 

Painted top and bottom of the spit as well 

Bottom first then top and I decided to try to make it look extra pretty 

So I had to use some tape I found draw then cut and place haven't pulled them off yet tho but when I do we will see how it works 

And the typhoon 

Got some more of that grey painted the grey bugs me tho looks too streaky 

I also tryied to paint anything gear/related in correct colours so when I get back its that much less to do just sand and touch up 

And there's the rest of them 

Overall this is a very busy week for me 5 of 7 days and pulling crazy stunts so gonna be entertaining that's for certain but I'm having some fun tho would love more wanting to work on painting planes 

Also little note: I intend to get some files up on here directly linked or don't know ATM but some that I like the look of some are annoying I'll get there in time tho

Great news!

I got a server job! Only part time but im glad and last time I was only ever at work it seemed

With a few more parts and the "correct" colours on in some yup I think it looks terrible atm too 

Touch on spit/typhoon

Somehow with whats going on I don't feel super compelled to be playing with the models (I have a few dog leashes that I can do also have some wild/uses books that I can stand to start making don't know where/how all the details on them 

There's the planes that typhoon looks so terrible! And I have the right colour so I'll have to play some with it 

Light the paper and a crayon can burn but once you blow it out it won't want to stay burning at all the first crayon I tested is where those spots are from

And some of my books that I can use (I have a ton more too some moleskins and such as well) the top 2 are actually sketchbooks so that may or maynot work

Don't know what to call this lol but some are done some aren't and there's a bit more too so let's start? 

Colossal mess but that's a bunch of my models mostly the "smaller" ones

I think the fa18 pair were my next models some of the decals went missing in my trying to keep enough airflow in the area Sence ive found not to worry

Dehavaland tigermoth actually saw on at airventure and was able Id it right away 

Used cheap acryllics and wasn't dark enough this is a b52 stratofortress if I recall I know it's the "Fairchild" and if you know about it that's how the model is/has been

I think this is the uh60 a Huey I could be wrong but it's the only chopper ive done I couldn't decide how to paint so I didn't

The bonnet hinge dosent work right anymore but it still does something

My red tail p51d mustang and that's a real one it's done after a real red tail craft as well 

And here's part of why im so glad I couldn't decide on the lower part of the cowling or the gun cover and it can come apart which it was setup in a way I could let it stay as it does

Old paints 

Remember when I said "cheap" acryllics?  Here's an example the tops had the colours painted on top so I could see at a glance helped as I tell by name as much as I can 

And there's my little drawer multiple glues and paints and a bunch more stuff 

Some air tanks and spray heads honestly im not that much a fan I wanna get to better airbrush stuff in time 

There's what those nozzles look like and they are rather annoying I think can't seem to catch right to spray on the paint so well so if you decide to get something good luck
